Famed for its golden beaches and coastal village charm, there is more than meets the eye in the Central Coast. Basing ourselves in Foresters Beach, discover incredible local producers and visit the only pearl farm in NSW. Then its onto the Hunter Valley, to visit spectacular gardens, homesteads and of course indulge in delicious tastings.
Day 1 (LD): WAGGA TO CENTRAL COAST – Tuesday, 9th December 2025
Welcome to our wonderful tour to the Central Coast and Hunter Valley regions. From Wagga Wagga we join the Hume Expressway and make our way via Western Sydney to the central Coast. Late afternoon we make our way to our accommodation, located in the lovely beachside suburb, Forresters Beach.

Day 2 (BLD): CENTRAL COAST – Wednesday, 10th December 2025
This morning, we visit Broken Bay Pearls, the only pearl farm on Australia’s East Coast. On our discovery tour, we’ll cruise to one of the oyster leases on the scenic lower Hawkesbury River and enjoy an immersive pearl grading session inside a restricted access Pearl Grading Room. We follow the story of the Australian Pearl from its ancient Indigenous beginnings, modern farming and grading techniques through to the finished product of unique pearl jewellery. Next, we visit Distillery Botanica. Set amongst three acres of tranquil herbaceous gardens, we will enjoy lunch at Bar Botanica before a tasting. Independently owned by astute herbalist and distiller Phillip Moore, the botanicals grown onsite are the inspiration and ingredients for an array of award-winning spirits and liqueurs. Following this experience, we will make our way back to our accommodation for dinner.

Day 3 (BLD): CENTRAL COAST – Thursday, 11th December 2025
This morning, we join Central Coast Ferries for a beautiful morning on the Brisbane Water. Travelling from Woy Woy to Davistown we meet back up with our coach to visit the Mount Penang Gardens. The distinctive design of the gardens by Anton James, sets it apart for the traditional botanical garden. His garden within a garden’ produces an understated landscape that is less manicured and in a constant state of being and continues to evolve today. After some time to explore the garden, we make our way to the delicious Chocolate & Nougat Factory, home of the renowned Australian confectioneries Nougat Limar, Bon Bon Fine Chocolate and The Sydney Marshmallow Co. Following lunch here, we have a chance to stock up on their wonderful products. Our final visit is to Ken Duncan Gallery. Spend time here wandering through the specious viewing rooms and enjoy a spectacular audio-visual presentation in the intimate theatre.

Day 4 (BLD): CENTRAL COAST TO MAITLAND – Friday, 12th December 2025
After a hearty breakfast, we check out and head towards our next destination, Maitland. We stop in at the Mortels Sheepskin Factory to enjoy a guided tour through the purpose-built Australian shearing shed style premises. Watch and learn the making of UGG Boots, from its raw materials through to the finished product. Enjoy lunch in the café before heading to the charming town of Maitland, known for its rich history and thriving arts community. There’s creativity on every corner with vibrant murals on city streets which we will see as we drive around today. We next visit the Maitland Regional Art Gallery. The Gallery building is one of the most significant buildings in Maitland, records show from around 1830, the site of the Gallery had housed a candle factory, soap maker, tailor, and general store. From the mid-1850s until 1892, a three-storey brick building on this site was used as a bulk warehouse for a local merchant before operating as the Northumberland Coach and Buggy Factory. We take in the history and see many interesting art pieces in the gallery. After an interesting day we continue to our accommodation.

Day 5 (BD): HUNTER VALLEY – Saturday, 13th December 2025
We have a leisurely start to the day, to prepare for a later night of Christmas Wonder. After a sleep in and a bit of time to wander the streets of Maitland we head to the Hunter Valley Cheese Company to taste some delightful samples. Of course, no visit to the Hunter Valley would be complete without a wine tasting at McGuigan’s Winery. Next we discover the sensational sights, colours and fragrances of the stunning Hunter Valley Gardens. Explore over 25 hectares of spectacular flowers, trees and shrubs. Take in the views from the lookout, rest above the waterfall in the sunken garden or step back in time with your favourite characters in the Storybook Garden. After an afternoon spent exploring the gardens in the light of day we enjoy dinner at the Garden Terrace Restaurant where we will watch the lights come on before heading back out to enjoy the magical Christmas Lights Spectacular. Wind your way through the remarkable displays including a White Christmas scene complete with snow cave and white topped trees or stroll through the sparkling Christmas bauble. The lights spectacular is bound to capture the spirit of Christmas.

Day 6 (BLD): HOMESTEADS AND HERITAGE – Sunday, 14th December 2025
In Patterson today we visit the Tocal Homestead, one of Australia’s finest collections of colonial farm buildings. Letting our guide reveal the homesteads rich history, we stroll through the Blackett Barn, Thunderbolt’s Cottage and a range of other buildings. This afternoon we meet our local guide in Morpeth at Campbells Store who takes us for a tour of this historic town, where pretty tree lined streets and cobbled paths are a delight to wander. Afterwards we make our way back to the store. Here we enjoy a tasting of locally produced fudge, ginger beer and honey and have a little time to browse the antique stores and quaint art and craft galleries in town.

Day 7 (B): MAITLAND TO WAGGA – Monday, 15th December 2025
With our bags packed, full of wonderful memories, and probably some extra Christmas gifts, we make our way home. Stopping along the way for our morning break and to purchase lunch. Arriving home later today ready to share stories of our week away.
