Day 1 (LD): WAGGA WAGGA TO YARRAWONGA – Tuesday, 8^th December 2026

Welcome to our 3-day summer getaway to the award-winning Sebel Yarrawonga overlooking Lake Mulwala. Leaving Wagga Wagga, we head to the Corowa Distilling Company for morning tea. From Corowa we visit the heritage-listed Savernake Station. The 1886 Homestead is perched gracefully atop a sandhill, offering views of the surrounding native forest. We take a look at the Woolshed and Shearers’ Quarters, dating back to 1912 which have been meticulously preserved to maintain their original functionality while offering a glimpse into a bygone era. For lunch we head into Mulwala and stop at the Club, then in the afternoon visit Rich Glen Yarrawonga Provedore. Located in the heart of Yarrawonga, experience a tasting of regional produce and explore artisan olive oils, dressings, condiments, wines, cheese and gin.  A great way to end the day before heading to our stunning hotel.

Day 2 (BLD): EXPLORING THE REGION – Wednesday, 9^th December 2026

Following a relaxing breakfast, we travel to the historic Byramine Homestead. This fascinating colonial house was built in the early 1820s by Elizabeth Hume, sister-in-law of Hamilton Hume the explorer. It is one of the oldest homes in Australia, and its name means ‘rustic retreat’ although it was, in essence, a fortress. Elizabeth Hume’s husband had been murdered by bushrangers.  To protect herself and her 9 children, the house was built in an octagonal shape to provide a clear view of all angles in the case of attack. Often the family had to hide in the cellar which we can see on our tour. Enjoy a tour, wander in the maintained gardens and enjoy morning tea. Next travel to Koonoomoo to visit The Big Strawberry. Anything you can think of that has strawberries in it, they make it here – jams, ice creams, liqueurs, milkshakes – you name it! Time for a bit of retail therapy before enjoying lunch.  Another unique visit this afternoon in Strathmerton for our visit to Cactus Country. The Hall family run business has been a labour of love for many years, which we will hear about before a self-guided walk through this large garden with over 4,000 different species of cacti from Africa, North America, Mexico and South America!  Returning to our hotel we have some time at leisure to enjoy the facilities including a day spa, infinity swimming pool and plenty of leisurely walking paths around Lake Mulwala.

Day 3 (BL): YARRAWONGA TO WAGGA WAGGA – Thursday, 10^th December 2026

Starting the day with a hearty breakfast, we then check out and pack the coach. Next, we join the PS Cumberoona for a morning cruise on Lake Mulwala. The lake was developed in 1939 by the completion of the Yarrawonga Weir, which was part of the massive Lake Hume project to harness the waters of the Murray for irrigation purposes. The Lake is home to hundreds of thousands of ghostly dead gums, tall grey sentinels that remain as a reminder of the past when they drowned with the filling of the Lake. On completion of our cruise, it’s now time to start heading home. We will travel through Howlong, and enjoy lunch from the famous Howlong Country Bakery, before returning to Wagga Wagga and bidding you all farewell.
