Late morning we head into the Gold Coast Hinterland to a little place called Wongawallan. The very British Fox and Hounds Hotel is the Gold Coast’s only authentic English Pub to have actually been transported from England! At Fox & Hounds why not sample a British Ale and some traditional fare such as Toad in the Hole, Yorkshire Pudding, Atlantic Cod and Beef & Guinness Pie weekend Roasts.

Day 4 (BLD): THE GOLD COAST TO BUNDABERG – Thursday, 11th June 2026

This morning, we head to Yandina and the Ginger Factory on the Sunshine Coast. We will enjoy a tour tracing the life of ginger from planting to final use, see ginger growing in the patch and then view the factory from the observation deck to see production. After a light lunch we can visit the Gingertown shops and Nutworks. We then continue on to the National Trust town of Childers. The township is set on top of rolling hills of red soil framed by green fields of sugar cane. In 1902 a disastrous fire destroyed much of Childers, but the subsequent rebuilding has given us the amazing variety of architectural styles still largely intact today. A great example is Gaydon’s building (1894) in Churchill Street which is now the home of Childers Pharmaceutical Museum. We arrive in Bundaberg with time to freshen up before dinner.

Day 5 (BD): BUNDABERG TO EMERALD – Friday, 12th June 2026

Today, we head to the iconic Bundaberg Rum Distillery. This Australian spirit has been rolled out of the production line for well over 100 years and today we are here for a self-guided tour. We’ll be able to look, feel and taste our way through the making process starting with the raw material though to the aromas of maturing spirit. We then head to Rockhampton. Located on the banks of the Fitzroy River, Rockhampton is known as Australia’s “beef capital” and sits astride the Tropic of Capricorn. After a relatively small gold rush, cattle soon became the big industry. Rockhampton is the regional capital of central Queensland and has several well preserved, riverside buildings within its business district. On arrival we have time to stretch our legs and buy lunch before we join the Capricorn Highway travelling through Blackwater and on to Emerald.

Day 6 (BLD): EMERALD TO LONGREACH – Saturday, 13th June 2026

Before we depart Emerald this morning, we have time to visit the National Trust listed Railway Station. Built in 1900 and restored in 1986, the Station with its wrought iron lacework and pillared portico, truly is a beautiful building. On the road again we will stop to enjoy our picnic lunches as we travel through the outback towns of Bogantungan and Alpha before arriving in Barcaldine. This town is steeped in the history of the early pioneer’s struggles. Hear about the shearers strike in the 1890’s and see the “Tree of Knowledge” next to the Barcaldine Railway Station, which marks the spot where the Australian Labour Party was formed. We also visit the Worker’s Heritage Centre, the only national attraction dedicated to celebrating the lives and proud heritage of everyday working people. The displays tell the stories of the railway workers and blacksmiths, the farmers, nurses and teachers who shaped the nation. This afternoon we stop in Ilfracombe where we have time to “wet the whistle” at the famous Wellshot Hotel. The last leg of today’s journey is to Longreach, a town which has played a significant role in the early development of Central Queensland and Outback Australia. We arrive in Longreach and, after our days on the road, we can settle in and unpack for the next three nights.

Day 7 (BD): LONGREACH – Sunday, 14th June 2026

On today’s adventures we will uncover some national treasures, such as the historic 1922 QANTAS hanger, at the QANTAS Founders Museum. The historic photographs, memorabilia and multi-media displays bring alive the inspirational stories of one of the world’s pioneering airlines. We then cross over to the Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame to enjoy the Outback Stockman’s Show. The Show encompasses the modern-day aspects of being a stockman, as well as telling the tales of what it used to be like in the past. We have some free time in the Hall of Fame. This afternoon, we join Outback Aussie Tours on board their heritage 2000 Class Rail Motor for a spectacular journey through the changing colours of floodplain, Gidgee, Open Downs, Ghost gums and Red Mulga Country. As the sunset fades into starlight, we arrive at Smithy’s Outback Dinner & Show for a night of great food and live entertainment under the stars. There will be an open fire and bush poetry. It will be a fantastic night.

Breakfast at motel | lunch at own arrangement and cost | Dinner at Smithy’s Outback

Day 8 (BD): WINTON – Monday, 15th June 2026

Out towards Winton, on the top of what the locals refer to as a “jump up” is a fascinating attraction called The Australian Age of Dinosaurs. It is located on a rugged mesa plateau formation that stands 75 metres above the surrounding plains. We will have a clear view to spot any dinosaurs in the vicinity! The area surrounding Winton is full of archaeological digs. Today at the Australian Age of Dinosaurs, we have the opportunity to take a tour and learn about this prehistoric phenomenon and see real dinosaur bones being prepared in the laboratory. The facility has won many awards for its design and content. From here we go into the township of Winton. It was in this area that Banjo Paterson wrote his famous poem about the swagman and the jolly jumbuck and “Waltzing Matilda” was first heard in a pub in Winton. The Waltzing Matilda Museum has been rebuilt after a fire destroyed it, so it is even bigger and better than it ever was, a must-see attraction in Winton. We then head back to Longreach. Dinner tonight is at the QANTAS Founders Outback Museum.

Breakfast in the motel | lunch own arrangements and cost | Dinner at QANTAS Founders Museum

Day 9 (BLD): LONGREACH TO MITCHELL – Tuesday, 16th June 2026

We farewell Longreach this morning and make our way back to Barcaldine and then onto Blackall. This town is home to the legendary gun shearer Jack Howe and is where he set the almost unbelievable record of shearing 321 sheep with blade shears in a day. A bronze statue now stands as a monument to the man and the achievement. Blackall also claims to be the home of the black stump which has always loomed large in rural Australian mythology as a place beyond which was no man’s land. as we turn south to begin our journey home. We continue through Augathella to Mitchell for our overnight stop.

Day 10 (BLD): MITCHELL TO LIGHTNING RIDGE – Wednesday, 17th June 2026

This morning, we pass through an interesting place called Muckadilla. We enjoy a brief stop at the Muckadilla Whistle Stop and Native Bush Gardens located just 42 kilometers west of Roma. Muckadilla is a small community, with a big heart. The Whistle Stop houses local memorabilia, including a tribute to Australia’s shortest serving Prime Minister and local lad, Frank Forde. We will see the Major Mitchell Monument and Leichhardt Monument – both of which pay tribute to the explorers who passed through the region from 1846. Next stop is Roma – home to the largest saleyards in Australia. We have an appointment in Roma at Big Rig. The outdoor museum tells the story of the formation of gas in coal reserves, its first discovery in Roma (and indeed the first discovery in Australia); the progression of the industry and finally, the indoor theatre for what is happening in the field, today. After an early lunch we begin our journey south heading through St George, Dirranbandi and over the border into New South Wales for a 2-night stay in Lightning Ridge.

Day 11 (BD): LIGHTNING RIDGE – Thursday, 18th June 2026

After breakfast we head across to the Walk-In-Mine to experience the atmosphere of an underground mine. We also have a tour including a video presentation and explanation about opal mining. We then visit the showroom to view the opals that came from the mines in this area and have the opportunity to purchase an opal from the showroom. Next is some free time to purchase an early lunch and to have a wander along the main street. Our afternoon appointment is at the Chambers of the Black Hand. Opened in April 2007, this is a unique tourist mine, 11.2 meters down. Local artist Ron Canlin has created the most amazing paintings and sculptures, including The Last Supper, Archangel Gabriel the Chinese Terracotta Warriors. Ron is constantly carving new work such as a samurai warrior, so there are changes every day, there is no end to his talent. The second level is a mine that has been worked for over 100 years and all the old shafts and drives that were dug by the old timers are still there. On this level you get a Geology tour on the different strata’s opal formation.

Day 12 (BLD): LIGHTNING RIDGE TO COONABARABRAN – Friday, 19th June 2026

This morning, we farewell Lightning Ridge and travel to Walgett and Coonamble, then east into the Warrumbungle National Park. This mountain range juts abruptly from the expanse of inland plains, born of violent volcanic action some 13 million years ago. The National Park is home to hundreds of native animals and wildflowers bedeck the mountains and plain lands of the park. We spend time travelling though the national park, experiencing the peace and tranquillity of this magnificent, protected environment. The picnic areas within the park are plentiful and it’s at one of these areas we stop to enjoy our lunch. Our overnight accommodation is at Coonabarabran.

After breakfast we travel south via Wellington and Molong to Cowra for lunch at the Japanese Gardens. Afterwards we have time to explore the Gardens – designed by internationally renowned landscape architect Ken Nakajima. The 5-hectare Japanese Gardens follow the edo style walking garden of the Shugakin Imperial Villa in Kyoto built between 1655 and 1659. The garden itself is designed to represent the landscape of Japan and features a stream cascading in waterfalls into two large ponds. Later this afternoon we arrive back in Wagga Wagga to complete a sensational 2-week tour.

Day 1(LD): WAGGA WAGGA TO MELBOURNE – Tuesday, 24th March 2026

The smell of freshly cut grass and bursting blooms will scent the Melbourne air once again for the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show in 2026 and Priest’s Coaches are going to take you there. We depart Wagga Wagga this morning and make our way down to Melbourne, ready for a fantastic few days of gardens and great times. We will stop along the way for lunch, and then arrive at the Radisson on Flagstaff Gardens, our accommodation for the duration of our tour. After a delicious buffet dinner, we call it a night and get plenty of rest for the days to come.

Day 2 (BLD): PUFFING BILLY & THE DANDENONGS – Wednesday, 25th March 2026

We head for the hills this morning, as we drive into the Dandenong Ranges. A fun thing to do for all ages is ride on Puffing Billy from Belgrave to Lakeside. Belgrave has always been a railway town since a narrow-gauge line was opened in 1900 to help the local farmers bring their goods to the markets in Melbourne. In 1962 the railway was restored, and the now famous Puffing Billy provides a great introduction to the area. From Lakeside, we head to the Blue Lotus Water Garden for lunch, followed by a self-guided walk through this spectacular 14-acre garden with over 40 different ponds. This is the largest display of lotus and waterlily flowers in the Southern Hemisphere. We spend the afternoon here and return to our hotel late afternoon.

Breakfast and Dinner in Hotel | Lunch at Blue Lotus Water Garden

Day 3 (BD): MELBOURNE INTERNATIONAL FLOWER SHOW – Thursday, 26th March 2026

After breakfast we have some free time. Around the corner from our accommodation is the world-famous Queen Victoria Markets, at this vast and vibrant centre of trade, we’ll spend time discovering the delightful souvenirs, entertaining buskers and marvelling at the fresh produce of the celebrated market. Alternatively, you may enjoy a wander through the beautiful Flagstaff Gardens, across the road from our accommodation. Then, we board our coach and head to the main event of our tour, the 2026 Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show. This is a hallmark event for Victoria and is the most prestigious of its kind in Australia. Over 300 exhibits are “on show” representing horticulture, nurseries, landscape gardening, floristry and cut flowers, together with their associated products and services. To conclude our day, we head to Docklands and join the Melbourne Tramboat for a sunset Fish and Chips cruise along the Yarra River. See the interesting Port of Melbourne from a different perspective and as the city lights turn on and the sun sets, we can relax and admire the sights.

DAY 2 (D): Fly to Norfolk Island – Sunday, 15th February 2026

This morning, we walk across the road to the Sydney International Airport and check in for our flight to Norfolk Island. Once checked in, we will have plenty of time to find something for breakfast in the terminal, before boarding our flight to paradise. Upon arrival on Norfolk Island, we are greeted by our local tour driver and transferred to Paradise Hotel & Resort, Norfolk Island. Here we will be greeted by Sandy, Karina & their friendly staff, and this will be our home for the next 7 nights! We have time to settle in and unpack this afternoon, before we enjoy the first of many delicious dinners here on the island.

DAY 3 (BD): Orientation Tour & Progressive Dinner – Monday, 16th February 2026

What better way to start our time on the island than with a half day orientation tour. Following breakfast at our accommodation we will be taken to some of the key historic areas, including Kingston, Cascade and Longridge. This is our chance to learn all about the fascinating history of Norfolk Island. See the famous convict buildings for yourself and enjoy the stories told in the full commentary as you visit each new place. Take in the amazing views from the lookouts, where you’ll get to enjoy our beautiful beaches in all their glory. Learn about Norfolk Island government, laws and of course our unique lifestyle. Some of the highlights include the renowned Melanesian Chapel and a visit to the grounds of an old island home – where you will be served morning tea. After our tour we return to the resort for a free afternoon. From here you can head into the township of Kingston to check out the local shops or take a break and relax by the pool in the resort. To finish off the day, we enjoy a 3-course meal progressing to different Norfolk Island family homes. A fun night, and a great way to meet the local people, and sample some of the island dishes.

DAY 4 (BD): McCullough’s Home & Island Fish Fry – Tuesday, 17th February 2026

After breakfast at the resort, we travel to the home of Colleen McCullough, world renowned author of 24 books who called Norfolk Island home for almost 36 years. Sadly, Colleen passed away in 2015 after a long battle with illness. Her beloved property “Out Yenna” is now open to tour. You are escorted through her magnificent home and can view Ric and Colleen’s priceless collection of artefacts gathered on their travels all over the world and see where her books were researched. This a glimpse into the life of a modern-day literary icon. We will split our group in half for this tour, with the other half enjoying some free time to explore town, before swapping with the other group. Dinner tonight is the famous Fish Fry. The Norfolk Island Fish Fry is by far the most popular event for any visitor. This fantastic event has been operating for over 40 years. Imagine – a feast of local dishes, salads and homemade bread, alongside mouth-watering fried fish that has been caught that very day. Your feast overlooks breathtaking coastal scenery as the sun sets – with live music in the background. But the day is not over yet, before returning to our accommodation we visit the Sound & Light Show. Nightfall at Kingston brings a different mood to the convict settlement. The stillness and the stars are just as they were before mankind arrived in 1788. However, with the dramatic use of real-life sound together with theatrical lighting and costumed actors, the stillness is broken as Pinetree Tours takes you through the horrifying decades of Norfolk Island’s convict era.

DAY 5 (BD): Norfolk Industry – Wednesday, 18th February 2026

An earlier start to things today, after we enjoy our breakfast at the resort, we head out to meet some locals. To get a real insight into the lifestyle on Norfolk Island, we need to meet the people and see them in action. Norfolk Island has many small businesses making different local products that we can see – and maybe have a taste of! We will also enjoy morning tea at a beautiful scenic location. Following the tour, we will have some free time to relax or do a bit more shopping through the local businesses. This evening, we dine at Bounty Bar & Grill for a two-course dinner, one of the best restaurants on Norfolk.

DAY 6 (BLD): Norfolk Indulgence – Thursday, 19th February 2026

This morning, following breakfast, we head out on the Norfolk Indulgence Tour. We start the tour on the south-eastern side of Norfolk Island, at Ball Bay – just another stunning bay with magnificent ocean views! Here we will learn all about how they get fuel ashore, as this is where the supply is unloaded. We then move on to Steeles Point, to enjoy the sheltered valleys behind the coastal cliffs. You may even spot a White Fairy Tern nesting in the forest! From here, we head to the Captain Cook Monument, a scenic lookout where you will stand at the spot on the northern coast where Captain James Cook and his officers landed in 1774. It has some of the best sea views on the Island, with offshore rock formations like Bird Rock and Elephant Rock. We will finish the tour the way all fantastic tour should end – with wine, cheese & crackers on Mount Pitt. The Lookout gives a 360° view of the whole island, so it will be a picnic to remember. Next, we will be transferred to Emily Bay where Donald will share his knowledge of Norfolk’s unique marine life. Once you’ve ‘walked the plank’ to board this Mutineer Descendant’s Glass Bottom Boat it takes just 60 seconds to be at the reef. View beautiful coral gardens & tropical fish inside the calm crystal waters of Norfolk’s lagoon. Don provides a full & interesting commentary on this environmental tour. You should be prepared for a touch of Norfolk humour. We will enjoy a light lunch with Don. Dinner tonight is in the resort restaurant before we head out for a night to remember. Wonderland by Night celebrates the colourful history of Norfolk Island and how the past has shaped its identity. The setting is 10 acres of magical Norfolk Pines, which are lit up like a magical enchanted forest. Meander along (or ride in the ‘moon buggy’) through a gentle winding path with a descendant of the Bounty Mutineers, as they recite poems and light up the dioramas, while sharing entertaining stories. Enjoy supper at the end of the walk, before being transferred back to our accommodation.

DAY 7 (BD): Life as Convict – Friday, 20th February 2026

After our late-night activities last night, we enjoy a leisurely morning today, with breakfast at the resort and time to relax by the pool. Early afternoon, we head out for a Convict Settlement Tour, an in-depth tour of the historic Georgian settlement of Kingston. Walk through the cemetery and hear the history of interesting convict & colonial headstones, hear stories of the houses along Quality Row. Walk through the ruins of the New Gaol, see the Pier Store, Boat Shed & the Crank Mill. Tonight, we continue to experience life as a convict, as we dress up as convicts ourselves and suffer through dinner with the Commandant. Think singing, laugher and a whole lot of silliness.

DAY 8 (BD): Breakfast Bushwalk & Cyclorama – Saturday, 21st February 2026

We will earn our breakfast this morning, starting the day with a walk in the great outdoors with a delicious breakfast waiting at the end! Take your choice of a stroll through Palm Glen Reserve or for the more energetic, a leisurely 3.5 km walk through scenic Mt. Bates (the highest point on the island) to Captain Cook Monument. At the end of the walk, we all meet up on the clifftop for a delicious breakfast barbecue. If you would prefer to sleep in and skip the bush walk, but would like to have breakfast on the clifftop, you can join the walkers at Captain Cook Monument and share in the festivities. Following our breakfast feast we visit the Cyclorama. An outstanding attraction & Tourism Awards winner, this stunning 360° panoramic painting has been impressing visitors with its ‘wow’ factor for over 10 years. It brings to life the Bounty mutiny & the history of the Norfolk Island people. Tonight we enjoy dinner at the Governor’s Lodge Resort.
